Kiz… how do I say goodbye to someone who never even called me by my name? 😭💔

You always called me “Smally.” Then I became “Small Madam.” And somehow, no matter how many years passed or how much I grew, I remained that little girl in your eyes.

Now I am sitting here trying to write a farewell to you, and my heart keeps rejecting the reality that you are gone.

Kiz, you were not just an old schoolmate. You were my guardian angel.

You looked out for me in school in your own special way. You were a natural leader who never needed a title to make an impact. You were a planner, an organiser, a great communicator, a helper and, most importantly, someone with a genuine heart for people.

But Kiz, it is your smile that keeps breaking me.

That smiling face keeps coming back to me, and I find myself asking, “Kiz, how can you really be gone?” 😭

You never came to Lagos without looking for your Small Madam. You would call, check on me and buy me drinks. At the time, they seemed like ordinary little gestures. Today, I would give anything to have just one more of those moments.

I wish I could hear you say “Small Madam” one more time.

I wish I could see that smile again.

I wish I had known that one day these little memories would become the things I would hold on to.

Thank you for being my guardian angel, Kiz. Thank you for always looking out for your Small Madam.

I will miss you more than words can ever explain.

But as Christians, we do not grieve without hope. I hold on to the promise that death is not the end, and that those who die in Christ will rise again.

“Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord.” — Revelation 14:13.

So, my dear Kiz, sleep on in the peace of Christ.

May the Lord receive your soul, forgive your shortcomings and grant you eternal rest. May His perpetual light shine upon you, and may you rest in perfect peace. Amen. 🕊️✝️

And when that glorious day comes, when we meet again in the presence of our Lord, I hope the first thing I hear is that familiar voice:

“Small Madam…” 😭❤️

Until then, rest well, my Kizito.

Goodnight, my dear friend. Until we meet again at the feet of Jesus. 🕊️✝️
